CALLED BUT ARE YOU CHOSEN?

By Pastor/Coach Keith Johnson

God has always had a vision for victory and greatness for His men!  In this strategic time in history, God is raising up and preparing an army of mighty men!  These mighty men will stand strong as a true reflection of the glory and power of God in the face of the greatest challenges, trials and battles. These men will band together to form a unified fighting force—they will be victorious over all!

The enemy also knows the hour is late and so he trembles at the sight of strong men who come together, press in to pray and seek the face of God!  These are the men that refuse to fight their battles alone or live in bondage to this fallen world. These men are moved by the Holy Spirit, broken and hungry for more of God! These Mighty Men are formattable because God has gathered them together to form a mighty army, formattable because they are filled with the eternal Word of God!

In the wilderness of testing, God is forging a mighty army! He is preparing us to boldly embrace His message of victory through the cross.  We're done playing it safe in our lives because we know this is our time to step up and take decisive action. The finished work of Christ on the cross is enough for us--and so we are being made ready to take our place on the front lines of the battle.  We are listening for the call and command of Christ and we stand ready to move out with boldness and power!  Our strength is sure because it’s only found in Christ!

As you read this message the Holy Spirit gave me to share with you, will you stand strong and take a bold step to join together with your Brothers in the faith? Will you count the cost to answering the call of God? Will you become a part of the army of God that fights in the battle God calls you too? We are called to the battle to fight for our wives, our children and our families. We fight for the legacy that we know God has called us to establish. We are called to fight against the enemy who seeks to kill, steal and destroy the souls of men who are created in the image of God. We fight for the precious souls that Christ Jesus our Savior died to save. We wage war beside Christ our victorious King for the souls of men that He has entrusted to us!

CALLED BUT ARE YOU CHOSEN?

"For many are called, but few are chosen." --Matthew 22:14

When David Livingstone, the great missionary pioneer, was working in Africa, some friends wrote: “We would like to send other men to help you. Have you found a good road into your area yet?”

Livingstone wrote back: “If you have men who will only come if they know there is a good road, I don’t want them. I want men who will come if there is no road at all.”

The prophetic call of God in this hour is for mighty men to rise up in the power of the Holy Spirit. To do this we must reject isolation and seek out effective ways to connect with one another.  If you're looking for the easy road you may be called but you may not be chosen. This does not mean that God calls lots of men, picks over them, and keeps only a few of His favorites.  No, what this verse means is that God calls every man and gives every one of them all the power to respond. But to be chosen, we must respond to the call by actively embracing and using the mighty power God has provided for us to use for that purpose!

God's Word to His Mighty Men is a Word of victory and power to overcome every challenge, this world and the enemy. But to be chosen, we must be the men who will be bold enough to take ownership of this truth by faith and run with it!

Question: Do you want to be chosen? Really? Do you want to be a Leader in God's army? Do you long to be filled with the fire and power of God so that YOU ask him to send you to the front lines of the battle? O.K. then, I rest my case, only a few will be chosen for this final calling and assignment.

THERE IS A REMNANT THAT GOD IS CALLING AND PREPARING!

But to you, the mighty remnant of God who know deep in your heart that the Holy Spirit of God is calling you—this is your time!  This coaching and training ministry is inspired and empowered by God to accomplish a Kingdom mission!  We are raising up a mighty army of victorious men and we’re doing it one man at a time! If God has chosen you, this is your time to:

Get your head together. When you join together with other committed men it’s easier to resist and rebuke the negative and destructive thoughts of the enemy. Spiritual and physical attacks that start in your thoughts must be confronted and cast down. You can take the promises of God’s Word for victory, strength, healing and peace and declare these promises over your life and family today! Do this in and with a bold faith, the faith of a mighty man of God!

Get your sword out and sharpen it!  Remember, Proverbs 27:17 teaches us that Iron sharpens iron. “Iron tools are made sharp, and fit for use, by rubbing them against the file, or some other iron; so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend — Quickens his ingenuity, enlivens his affections, strengthens his judgment, excites him to virtuous and useful actions, and makes him, in all respects, a better man. The countenance is here put for the mind or spirit, the state and disposition of which are commonly visible in men’s countenances.” –Benson’s Commentary

You will need a sharp sword (the Word of God in you) to confront and defeat the enemy. Your life and strength is found in the Word of God! Feed upon the Word daily and study the scriptures so that you can wage a good warfare! Get you shield out and reinforce the weak spots. You will need a strong faith to thwart the fiery arrow that will be aimed at you. Get you battle Helmet out and add this inscription where it can be clearly seen by the enemy: Holiness unto the Lord and Victory to the King of Kings! –Exodus 28-36 Your mind must be made up and you must be transformed by renewing your mind daily!

Begin to pray now that God would lead you to a mighty band of brothers who know how to fight! To win this kind of battle and secure the victory for yourself, your family and for the Kingdom you MUST be connected to other Mighty Men of God. David had his Mighty Men and they formed an elite fighting force that God used to usher in the Kingly reign of David. Remember, King David is a type of Christ. In the same way, we are being called out as God’s Mighty Men at this strategic hour by the Holy Spirit to exalt and crown Jesus Christ Lord of all! This is a Kingdom strategy--Jesus established His spiritual Kingdom reign and rule by launching a small group of just twelve disciples. He coached and trained these common men who poured into each other and they were transformed into mighty Apostles who turned the entire world upside down for the glory of God!

REFUSE TO BE PASSIVE!

It is sad to see so many good men who have become passive and withdrawn in the face of the battle and the attacks of the enemy. Men hiding in their caves licking their wounds and just hoping that time will somehow make things better.  I’ve tried to hide at low times in my own life and I can tell you, hiding and passivity will never give you the victory you need!  So many good men I meet are sadly alone in the battle with no other Mighty Men in their lives who could stand strong with them to win the victory. This “one man against the world” mentality has never been God’s plan for His Mighty Men! Together with God we are mighty, together we fight, and we win the battle!

When the enemy comes against you or your family it means he sees something in you that he fears. The truth is, the enemy is hoping you never find out how mighty your truly are in Christ!  Most men don't know the truth about their true identity in Christ.  Being a Christian is not about trying to renovate your life by putting on an outward Christian facade!  You may look great outwardly but are you the real deal—are you a Christ-Man?  Know this—every true Christian is filled with the mighty person and power of Jesus Christ and He is alive in you! This truth alone makes you dangerous and unstoppable!

“Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” --1 Corinthians 3:16

"I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.”-- Ezekiel 36:27

“I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.” -- Ezekiel 36:27

“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” -- Romans 8:11

HE’S GETTING HIS CHOSEN MEN READY FOR THE FINAL BATTLE!

Revelation 19:11-16 “Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. 15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.”

Wow!  Here we see a picture of the coming battle in last days. A future depiction of the second coming of Christ!  Jesus our victorious King is dressed for battle and ready to make war against His enemies! You will notice he has a company of Mighty Men who are gathered together (as one) to fight with him.  These must certainly be Mighty Men of great courage and stature. But here's the question that every man must answer, the question that I have asked myself, and the question I present to you today:

Would Jesus choose you to go into this, the greatest of all battles with Him?!  Many are called but few a chosen. I’m not so sure that this battle is designed for the men who just make it into heaven by the skin of their teeth.  Yes, it’s true that we are all saved by grace alone but it’s also true that we are called to be overcomers in this life according to the power of Christ who is in us!  Would Jesus choose you? Maybe that’s too great of a question for you to comprehend, so try this one:  If you were going into a fierce battle and you wanted to surround yourself with some Mighty Men who would fight beside you, what kind of men would you be looking for? What kind of men would you choose?

In this strategic hour of history, I believe God is calling and preparing His men for a glorious and might battle! This is a major part of God’s great plan and vision for your life.  Sadly, most men never see or understand the greater purpose that God has given to them. Yes, we are called and empowered by God to live strong for our wives and children. We have jobs and careers, we also have a clear call and assignment to accomplish for the Kingdom and glory of God.  But we also need to understand that we have a future assignment and we must allow the Holy Spirit of God to get us ready! For this kind of battle, God is looking for mighty warriors who will live according to the truth of His Word:

A man who loves Him enough to give his life for him in the battle. Matthew 10:38 “Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.” Our call as mighty men is to follow Jesus to the cross and die to our self and flesh so that he can raise us up in his resurrection power!

A man who is skilled in the use of weapons of war. 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, 4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.”

A man who has battle experience and shown good courage on the battle field. 2 Timothy 2:3-4 “You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.”

A man who is dressed and ready for war. Put on the full armor of God. Ephesians 6:10-13 “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

A man born of the Spirit who is a true citizen of the Kingdom.  Only a man who is born of the spirit can enter into the Kingdom of God. Ephesians 2:19 “Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.” John 3:5 “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”

A man who hates the enemy. A man who wants nothing to do with this world. A man who is of the same heart and mind as his Commander. A man who hates what Jesus hates and loves what he loves! A man who hates sin and knows how to repent and stay covered in the blood! Ephesians 5:8-11 “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.”

A man who is filled with the fire of the Spirit! Whose Spirit is this? It is the Spirit of the Mighty One! It is the One and only Holy Spirit that empowers God's mighty men and makes them dangerous and fit for war! Matthew 3:11 “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” 1 Thessalonians 1:5 “For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit…”  1 Corinthians 4:20 “For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power.” Romans 15:19 “…in mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God…”

THE MIGHTY WARRIOR IS ALIVE IN YOU!

"The Lord will go forth like a Mighty Man, He will rouse up His zealous indignation and vengeance like a warrior; He will cry, yes, He will shout aloud, He will do mightily against His enemies."  --Isaiah 42:13 (AMP)

Enough said! Now you know why few are chosen. But know this, God is not about to lower His standards or change who He is to accommodate men who chose to compromise the truth. God is holy and set apart from all sin, He is pure light in in Him there is no darkness at all! I John 1:5. To God’s Mighty Men there are no more excuses for living in defeat because Jesus paid the full price to redeem us and set us free!  He once and for all time defeated sin and the devil on the cross and the victory has already been won!  The victory that He won on that cross was won for you--it belongs to you! You must be bold enough to take this victory with a simple faith and stand strong in it!

The only question is this: Will you believe the Word of God; will you boldly choose to be the man of God He called you to be in this hour? Will you stop striving in your own human wisdom and strength?  Your victory is sure but its only possible for you in and through Christ who is your strength and victory!  Will you choose to be a Mighty Man of valor who refused to compromise the truth of God’s Word in the face of all opposition? I say it again, MANY ARE CALLED BUT FEW A CHOSEN!
